Because he hasn’t played that much for Arsenal this season, there has been an idea that Jakub Kiwior could be a loan target for a few Italian clubs.
After all, the Poland international made his mark on European football at Spezia, so knows Serie A well, but it appears Mikel Arteta is ready to stand in his way.
Milan News have an article on the matter on Wednesday, making it very clear from the off that Arsenal have ‘no intention’ of letting the player go in January, paying around €25m for his services a year ago.
The reason for this is allowing him to leave would mean the need to bring someone else in, since the injury to Jurrien Timber means he is the first replacement at centre-back these days in case anything happens to either Gabriel Magalhaes or William Saliba.
It’s pointed out that AC Milan ‘have had contact’ with Kiwior’s agent in ‘recent days’, with the idea being a temporary deal.
Even with a loan, though, Arsenal would still need to find a replacement, meaning that AS Roma, who are also mentioned in the article, would face the same issue.
In short, the Gunners and Arteta are against Kiwior finding a new club in January, and that should ideally put an end to such rumours, but we all know that won’t happen.
