Arsenal loanee Joel Campbell is reportedly struggling to adapt at Sporting CP. Being played out of position, the winger is still to please Jorge Jesus and follow his instructions.
Portuguese newspaper O Jogo claims that Jorge Jesus wants the player to do a proper winger’s work, looking for the byline and trying more crosses. But all Campbell has been doing is dribbling into the middle, making Sporting lack attacks through the left side.
Apart from the tactical matter, Campbell doesn’t seem to have any other problems. He’s been having few minutes, but scored in both games he’s started so far. Sporting believe he can be an important player for them this season, and that’s why Jorge Jesus is so concerned about fitting him into the starting team.
Campbell is loaned to Sporting until the end of the season, with the Portuguese side having no option to buy. He has eight appearances for the club so far.
