Over the past couple of days, reports from England have discussed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract situation at Arsenal. His current deal runs down in 2021.

The forward has admitted “it means a lot” for him to represent the Gunners, but that’s not stopped him from being linked to other European clubs, particularity to Inter Milan.

According to FcInterNews, there has been contact between the Gabon international and the north London club to extend the contract.

It’s claimed Mikel Arteta’s side have offered a new deal until 2022, but the 30-year-old needs an extension of ‘at least two more years’. This remains the ‘main obstacle to date’.

Inter are on high alert as they view him as an ‘ideal’ candidate to replace Lautaro Martínez, if Barcelona formulate the right offer to take the Argentine away from the San Siro.

Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta wanted Aubameyang at Juventus and still appreciates the player. Antonio Conte believes his side’s attacking division can be bolstered by playing the Arsenal star alongside Romelu Lukaku.

The outlet adds Aubameyang ‘likes’ that the Serie A are interested in him and considers them as a ‘concrete option’, if he decides to leave Arsenal.

It all depends on whether Arsenal are willing to meet Aubameyang’s demands for an extension. If not, he will have more options to decide his next destination in the summer.
