On December 15th, we relayed news from Spain that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ‘wants to leave’ Arsenal after experiencing a difficult week at the Emirates.
The forward was left out of the squad to face Southampton at the weekend for breaking club rules, and was stripped of the captaincy on Tuesday. Mikel Arteta didn’t include him in the yesterday’s squad as the Gunners sealed a 2-0 win over West Ham United.
Sport now claim the 32-year-old is in Barcelona’s ‘orbit’ for the winter market. After a ‘total war’ with the north London club, the newspaper says ‘no one rules out his imminent departure’.
It’s claimed the former Borussia Dortmund man as great anger and has already moved, likely to look for a way out of Arsenal.
The newspaper states Aubameyang is ‘very attached’ to the Catalan club as his ‘very close relatives’ have been living around Barcelona for several years.
He came close to joining Barcelona in the past, but the €30m fee demanded by Arsenal was deemed too high for the Spanish giants.
Aubameyang’s ‘dream’ has always been to wear the Barca shirt, and to do that in the near future he is willing to lower his salary. With the player keen on the transfer, it remains to be seen whether or not Barca will try to take advantage of the situation for his signing.
