It doesn’t matter what William Saliba does in training or what Mikel Arteta says about him in press conferences, the young Frenchman can’t get a game for Arsenal.
Bought for £27m, the 19-year-old was supposed to go back to Saint-Etienne on loan for the season, but a last minute hiccup scuppered the move, much to the youngster’s chagrin.
However, there’s a second chance for that to happen in January, and it appears all parties are up for it.
That’s what But! Football Club were reporting on Monday, claiming Saliba is ‘fed up with his situation’ at Arsenal, and is ‘considering more and more about a new loan at Saint-Etienne’ after turning down the chance of playing Championship football.
The website continue by stating ‘the interest is reciprocal’ from the club’s end, suggesting there’s an easy deal to be done for all parties come the start of the January transfer window.
After all, it seems a bit of a waste for a highly regarded defender like Saliba to sit around the U23s when he could be getting strong Ligue 1 first-team experience at a club he knows well.
