Arsenal youngster Marquinhos is expected to arrive in Rio de Janeiro this week to complete a move to Brazilian side Fluminense.
That’s according to CNN Brasil, who say the striker is ready to finalise his move back to Brazil after the Brazilian U23 team failed to qualify for the Olympics in Paris.
They explain that the Arsenal mad had been with the Brazilian team in Venezuela for the pre-Olympic competition but their defeat to Argentina on Sunday means they are now out of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Thus, he has now been released and is free to travel back to Brazil and Rio de Janeiro in particular to finalise his loan move from Arsenal.
A deal with Fluminense has already been finalised and will see him join them on loan until the end of the season but has not been finalised.
He’s now available to do that, though, having also resolved ‘personal issues’ in England as well and is expected in Rio de Janeiro this week to make things official.
Arsenal had brought the player back from Nantes in France and intended to send him back to Brazil and CNN say Fluminense was the project that ‘seduced the player’. He’s now set to arrive and could be in the squad to take on Vasco on Wednesday.
