Hector Bellerin has established himself as a key player at Arsenal in the past 12 months. The Spaniard took advantage of Mathieu Debuchy’s injury absence to make himself one of the first names on the team sheet.
Barcelona’s interest in Bellerin has been reported several times in the past, and Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reiterate it on Sunday. It’s reported Aleix Vidal could leave the club in the near future, and Barcelona would want to replace him with Bellerin, a long time favourite story of the Catalan media.
Bellerin is described as ‘one of the most promising players in the world’ and Mundo Deportivo say he could ‘succeed wherever he wants’.
However, that means the 21-year-old is wanted by several clubs in Europe, and Arsenal are negotiating a new contract with the Spaniard. Mundo Deportivo say it’s difficult to know the future of Bellerin, abut point out Arsenal are no fools in this situation, and are doing everything to get the player secured.
Barcelona are fond of Bellerin, but if he signs a new Arsenal contract, it’s a pretty good signal that he’s fine where he is. If that hasn’t been done by the turn of the year, expect the reports to grow.
