In mid August, France Football started the claims of Arsenal interest in Marcel Tisserand. It was clearly explained that Arsene Wenger wanted to recruit two defenders before the end of the window, one to walk into the first team and one as a squad and longer term option.
Arsenal aren’t really short of the latter option, but France Football clearly believed there was interest in the 23 year old, who can play in the centre or at right back.
Tisserand is owned by AS Monaco, but spent last season on loan at Toulouse. The sudden interest in him has been quite surprising, and Spanish newspaper Marca seem to believe it’s spreading.
It had previously reported that Espanyol had all but given up on Tisserand, who would prefer a switch to Arsenal, but they’ve now been brought back in.
Marca claim in their Monday edition that Real Betis, Saint Etienne, Bordeaux, Arsenal and ‘Manchester’ are all providing competition for Espanyol.
They are all potential brides for the player, say Marca. He seems very fortunate indeed.
