Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has not used Denis Suarez in La Liga or the Champions League and preferred a growing list of players, including youngster Carles Aleñá, ahead of him.
His contract with the Catalan club runs out in 2020 and Wednesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo claims that until recently he’d decided against listening to any offers to make a switch away from his current employer.
It’s now reported the player has changed his mind and this has alerted clubs. The 24 year year old is ‘on the agenda’ of Arsenal and AS Roma. Both clubs ‘have moved’ to work on the January signing, having learned of the player’s desire.
The Spanish champions are also open to the idea of sanctioning his sale in the mid-season transfer window. There are other clubs from Spain interested in signing him, but he prefers to move abroad.
Suarez can play anywhere in the midfield and if the Gunners manage to secure his services, he could be seen as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey, whose contract at the Emirates expires at the end of the season.
Arsenal also have an advantage because Suarez has played under Unai Emery when he was on loan at Sevilla in the 2014/15 season.
