Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos has chosen to move to Stuttgart, but they are yet to agree on a deal with the Gunners.
Reports emerged yesterday that the German side, who recently secured promotion to the Bundesliga, were keen on the defender this summer.
Their director of football Sven Mislintat signed Mavropanos for Arsenal in 2018 and was eyeing up another deal, albeit on loan, as Stuttgart don’t have much money to spend on transfers this summer.
That was followed by a report in Greece that indicated a deal was quite far along as the Arsenal man had already undergone a medical ahead of a move.
Bild have picked up on it today and, while they don’t comment on the medical aspect, they do say that sources have told them that Mavropanos wants to play for Stuttgart next season.
He likes the idea of playing for them in the Bundesliga, but VfB are yet to agree on a deal with Arsenal for him.
The Gunners have made it clear they don’t want to sell, and a year-long loan is the only possible deal, which suits the Germans fine as they only have a budget of €5m.
Several other sides were keen, namely Mainz, Bremen and Hoffenheim but Mislintat ‘may have been the deciding factor’ for the centre back.
