As France Football writes about the future of Nicolas Pepe today, they say there’s a huge competition to sign the Lille winger this summer.
Three Premier League sides would be involved in this race, which are Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United. They would have the company of Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid.
It’s claimed it was the Italian side who started the auction, making a first offer of €60m. Now Lille wait for the other bids, having the possibility of making the biggest French sale to a foreign club ever, overcoming James Rodriguez’ €75m move from Monaco to Real Madrid in 2014.
There’s not a clear picture of who would be leading the race, apart from Inter Milan’s first move. It’s said that Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are ‘clearly interested’, but that’s all for now.
France Football recalls that Pepe came close to moving to Lyon, Schalke 04 or Sevilla for €30m last summer, but could now be involved in a much bigger transfer. He had 23 goals and 12 assists for Lille this season.
