AC Milan have been offered the chance to sign Arsenal defender William Saliba but are not convinced by the Frenchman.
That’s according to Tuttosport, cited by Milan News, who say the defender was offered to Milan by ‘market operator’ Oscar Damiani.
Milan are on the hunt for a new centre-back before the end of the transfer window after losing Simon Kjaer to a long-term knee injury earlier this season.
They’ve been linked with defenders all around Europe in their hunt, and the latest name to add to the list is Saliba.
According to Tuttosport, yesterday afternoon saw well-known market operator and ‘great connoiseur’ of French football Oscar Damiani visit Casa Milan.
While there, he ‘proposed’ Arsenal defender Saliba to the club, but his profile does not seem to convince those in charge at Milan.
Now, the newspaper makes no mention of how Damiani offered Saliba to the Serie A side, given he’s currently on loan at Marseille until the end of the season.
Perhaps the plan was to end his loan deal there early and then try to secure another one, or, alternatively, end the loan deal and then do a permanent transfer away from Arsenal.
The latter would certainly make sense, given the player has hinted he doesn’t see a future for himself at the Emirates after the issues he’s had at the club since his arrival.
Either way, it seems Milan aren’t keen anyway so it’s moot, but that could always change if Milan can’t find any other options before the end of the window.
