On Sunday, we covered claims from Algeria which said Yacine Brahimi is in ‘very advanced negotiations’ to join Arsenal.
The story had sources close to the player claiming that the winger could be signing for the Gunners as a free agent, since his contract with Porto has expired.
Now the Portuguese press has been reacting to it, and even though they believe the winger could be on his way to the Emirates, they still don’t take the transfer as done.
Newspaper O Jogo is the one who seems more convinced of their claims, saying they know there’s nothing defined about Brahimi’s future so far.
O Jogo also reports that Brahimi got injured playing for Algeria, and even if he agrees a deal now, he’s waiting for the Africa Cup of Nations to end before making any move official.
Meanwhile, Correio da Manhã has a story about all the players who Porto are losing for free this summer.
They say the club could’ve made €21m with Brahimi’s sale, despite the €60m release clause he had, and then claim that Arsenal are the ‘main candidates’ to land him.
