Brazilian outlet UOL today features an update on Arsenal’s chase for a new midfielder.
The outlet writes that the Gunners currently have two targets for the position, with those being Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans and Juventus’ Arthur Melo.
The player from the Foxes is said to be a priority, as he’s ‘well evaluated’ and the fact his contract expires in 2023 could give the Gunners a better chance of a reasonable deal.
UOL actually brings more details on Arsenal’s pursuit for Arthur, who’s said to be an ‘old target’, since they already had a failed attempt to land him in the January transfer window.
The website claims that at the time, Edu Gaspar ‘indicated’ his name, but with Juventus selling Rodrigo Bentancur to Tottenham Hotspur, they decided not to loan the Brazilian to the Gunners.
According to UOL, the possibility of moving to Arsenal ‘seduced’ Arthur back then, as he was looking for a place where he could have more minutes and get a chance of going to the World Cup.
Now it’s said the London side consulted his situation again, i.e. made an enquiry, regarding a summer move.
