It’s been widely reported that Arsenal will look to bring in a new striker this summer.
This has seen the Gunners linked with Napoli star Victor Osimhen and Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus.
Arsenal have also been credited with interest in Gianluca Scamacca. On May 24th, we carried a report from TuttoMercatoWeb, who stated the Sassuolo star is on their transfer wish list.
Fast forward to June and the north London club have made a firm effort to sign the 23-year-old striker.
That’s according to Alfredo Pedullà, who states Arsenal have made an offer of around €40m plus bonuses for the Italy international ‘in recent weeks’. The frontman has ‘rejected’ the proposal made by Mikel Arteta’s side.
That’s because Scamacca ‘wants to give priority’ to any offers he would receive from Serie A. The report further adds he has to be patient since the clubs like AC Milan and Napoli have only carried out polls for him so far.
He has long been a target for Inter Milan, but the Nerazzurri have now shifted their focus to Paulo Dybala and other areas of the pitch.
Scamacca finished the 2021/22 campaign with 16 goals from 36 league appearances for Sassuolo.
