Arsenal and Liverpool recently sent scouts to Italy to get a lowdown on Genoa forward Leonardo Pavoletti, according to claims in Italy. The Italian has been impressive form since he signed from fellow Serie A side Sassuolo despite Leeds United holding talks with the player.
TMW have confirmed the two Premier League sides have been present to watch Pavoletti following his displays since joining Genoa on a permanent deal in 2015. The 27-year-old has scored 22 goals in 37 games for Genoa, which has led to calls for the forward to be called up for the Italy national team. With the transfer window set to re-open in January, Pavoletti could be an option for either Arsenal or Liverpool.
Last year we covered reports from Italy that Pavoletti held talks with Leeds owner Massimo Cellino over a possible move to the Championship side. The discussions were centred around the forward finding out more about the club and also to get to know the Leeds owner more.
At the time it was claimed that there was a real possibility of Pavoletti arriving at Elland Road, but he took the decision to head to Genoa.
