Arsenal are ‘attentive’ to what happens with Sevilla defender Diego Carlos this summer amid speculation about a move to Liverpool.

The centre back is one of the hottest properties in La Liga at present after starring for Sevilla following a move from Nantes in the summer.

Several sides have been linked with making a move, Liverpool chief among them, with reports saying that they had made him a ‘priority signing’ as they look for a partner for Virgil van Dijk.

They are yet to make their move for the 27-year-old, but if they do, they may face competition from Arsenal for his signature.

That’s according to El Desmarque, who say Arsenal are ‘interested’ in the centre back and they are ‘attentive’ to what may happen with him this summer.

They back up reports of interest from Liverpool, adding that they made a move to sign him in the January transfer window but were unsuccessful for ‘various reasons’.

For now, Carlos is not thinking about his future but solely focusing on finishing the season with Sevilla and going from there.

The Premier League duo are not the only ones interested, with Barcelona also keeping an eye on him as they eye up their own signings.

Should any of the trio make their move, they will likely have to pay a significant fee for his signature. Sevilla have Carlos tied down to a deal until 2024 with a release clause at €75m, so, therefore, do not need to sell for anything less.

Such a price would seemingly rule out Arsenal, who it has been reported don’t have that much money to spend on new signings this summer.

Liverpool would also seemingly be out of the running given reports they won’t be spending big on transfers in the coming window.

As we know, though, just because a player has a huge release clause, doesn’t mean he will be moving for that price and perhaps both are waiting to see if the price drops before making their move.
