Denis Zakaria has been one of the outstanding players for Borussia Mönchengladbach in midfield this season.
His performances for the Bundesliga side caught attention from other clubs as we discussed about Manchester United’s interest in the 23-year-old last month. Tottenham Hotspur were also mentioned, but this was before Mauricio Pochettino was shown the exit door.
According to Fussball Transfers, Arsenal and the Red Devils are after the Switzerland international, who has been one of the ‘high flyers’ at the German club.
Apart from the Old Trafford club and the Gunners, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich have also included the player in their transfer list.
Zakaria’s current deal expires in 2022 and the report states Mönchengladbach are planning to offer him a new deal. Negotiations are underway for an extension that will include a release clause and make both parties happy.
Fussball Transfers don’t specify what Zakaria’s new release clause will be if he finds agreement on the renewal.
There’s perhaps a suspicion Premier League clubs are being linked to help him get a better deal from Gladbach.
