Wolverhampton Wanderers ‘could go’ for Real Madrid midfielder James Rodríguez in the January transfer window.

That’s according to El Desmarque, who name Wolves as one of the interested parties in the Colombian midfielder.

Rodríguez is currently out of favour at the Bernabeu, with Zinedine Zidane informing him in the summer that he was not part of his plans.

Initially, it appeared he had won the Madrid boss over, but that’s not the case, and certain ‘behaviours’ have put him on Zidane’s naughty list alongside the likes of Gareth Bale.

Now, Real chief Florentino Pérez is ‘listening to proposals’ for Rodríguez to leave, according to the website, and one of those is from Wolves.

That’s because of Jorge Mendes, the super-agent who is heavily involved at Wolves and whose agency, Gesitfute, just so happens to represent Rodríguez.

It’s not the first time a move to Molineux has been suggested, with El Desmarque reporting at the beginning of the month that the Mendes link could work in their favour.

Nuno Espirito Santo was also said to be keen and wanted the midfielder to be the ‘star’ of his team.

It seems, though, they will face frustration in any pursuit as Rodríguez prefers a move across Madrid rather than to the Black Country.

Atletico are willing to make him one of the star players in the team with wages equal to Jan Oblak, while Real Madrid would be willing to sell now as it ‘seems less dangerous than in the summer’.
