Arsenal’s interest in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt is ‘persistent’ as they eye a summer move for the German.
That’s according to Kicker, who say the ‘economic conditions’ would have to be right for the Bundesliga side to sanction a deal.
Brandt has been heavily linked with Arsenal since the January transfer window when he was named as one of several midfielders they were looking at.
Ultimately a move never happened, but there have been several reports indicating he remains on their list of targets for the summer.
That interest comes amid suggestions Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta wants a creative midfielder for his side, particularly as Martin Odegaard looks set to return to Real Madrid.
Brandt continues to be linked as a result, and a recent report in Germany indicated he had been in touch with friends at the Emirates about the rumours.
Kicker pick up on that today and explain that after a disappointing season, Brandt’s future is very much in the air.
He can make a new attempt under new manager Marco Rose or change clubs in the summer, and in that regard, Arsenal’s interest is ‘persistent’.
However, with the midfielder tied down to a deal until 2024, there is no rush for Dortmund to sell, and the ‘economic conditions would have to be right’ before they sanction anything.
That makes it sound like Arsenal have some convincing to do if they are to get their man, but it’s now very clear the interest in Brandt is there.
