Last month, there was a small rumour in Brazil saying that Arsenal, Chelsea, Benfica and Barcelona would all be interested in the Atlético-MG right-back Emerson.

The player even commented on the story a few days after it went out, but as there had been no further contacts or bids, it soon went quiet.

Now UOL brings an update on it, saying the fullback is considering playing in the Copa Libertadores for his club next year instead of seeking a January move.

Emerson has reportedly listened to his agent, André Cury, who claims he can work more on making his name at Atlético before signing for a European side.

Atlético, however, are thinking of selling the player now, and have even started looking for replacements in the transfer market.

When speaking of the interested sides, UOL only mentions Arsenal, Barcelona and Udinese, saying these clubs have been ‘watching’ the player’s performances for the Brazilian side.
