Arsenal will have ‘the advantage’ in the race for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi this summer but Real Madrid are pushing to get him.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who report that Real Madrid are refusing to give up on the midfielder and recently ‘made public’ their interest again.
They explain that Zubimendi’s future is still being monitored by several teams, including Real Madrid, who are following him ahead of a possible move in the summer.
They want a replacement for Toni Kroos, who retired last season, and believe that Zubimendi could be one of the players who would adapt best to the role.
The Spanish giants are aware that Arsenal are making progress in signing him, with reports earlier this year stating they’d made moves to get him signed before the summer even starts.
The Gunners are believed to ‘have the advantage’ over Real Madrid but Carlo Ancelotti’s side do not want to miss the opportunity if a transfer is possible.
That is very much the case as Real Sociedad have made it clear that if Zubimendi wants to leave he will be allowed to do so because he has ‘given everything’ since he joined the club at 12-years-old.
Arsenal have the advantage after already opening talks, but Real Madrid intend to fully involve themselves in the matter.
