Arsenal are providing competition to Napoli for Rubin Kazan’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as the Italian side look to wrap up a deal.
That’s according to Area Napoli, who say the Gunners ‘interference’ is causing issues for the Serie A side.
The website explain that Kvaratskhelia is ‘getting closer’ to Napoli, with intermediaries working on the deal to take him from Russia to Italy.
The hope is to be able to conclude a deal for €15m max, but the Italian side could find themselves ‘facing competition’ from Arsenal.
According to Area Napoli’s information, the Gunners are following the winger ‘with interest’ and have collected information on him over the last few months.
FIFA opened a window for players to leave both Russia and Ukraine as a result of the war, but the Premier League have blocked such deals, fearing it would ‘undermine the integrity’ of the competition.
As a result, Arsenal watched on when Kvaratskhelia moved to Dinamo Butami in his homeland earlier this month, and he is set to remain there until the summer.
Therefore the discussion about a transfer has been postponed until July, but in no means ‘completely shelved’.
They are trying to get in touch with those in charge of the situation to ‘deepen the question’, but Napoli are also optimistic they can get their man.
Their main worry is that the sirens from Arsenal could tempt him to the Premier League, but the battle is on either way for his signature.
