This week, Arsenal winger Willian made a post on Instagram showing he was watching a Flamengo game.
That, of course, was enough to start many rumours about a potential move, especially because officials from the Rio de Janeiro side have been in Europe in a quest for signings.
Journalist Jorge Nicola went after the story, and spoke to a couple of sources to understand the possibility of a move this summer.
He first talked to Flamengo officials who claimed there’s ‘absolutely nothing’ about the rumour.
Then when speaking to the winger’s representatives, Nicola heard that ‘Willian doesn’t want to play in Brazil, zero chances of him closing with Flamengo’.
Willian has indeed been linked to Brazilian clubs for a few years now, dating back to his time at Chelsea.
However, the player has always made it clear that he loves living in London and never gave any signs that he’d go back to his home country before the end of his career.
His contract with the Gunners runs until 2023.
