Roma and Fiorentina remain ‘in the running’ for Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira, despite talk of an agreement with Atlético Madrid.
The Uruguayan midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates all summer, with it made clear that he is not part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.
Clubs in Italy and Spain are all rumoured to be interested in his signature, with it apparent that he would not be short of options to explore.
One of those is Atlético Madrid, whose manager Diego Simeone is said to have phoned Torreira personally to tell him he wants him at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Indeed, reports this week have indicated he already has an agreement in place with the Spanish side, and he could end up being involved in a potential deal to take Thomas Partey to Arsenal.
All indications have been that Atlético were at the front of the queue and his other suitors, particularly those from Italy, were lagging behind.
Calciomercato.it say otherwise, though, stating that Roma and Fiorentina remain in the race for him while Torino are in the background at present.
The Arsenal midfielder has ‘not yet made a decision’ about his future and is ‘reflecting’ on the proposals that have been made to him.
He will have to make a decision soon, with Arsenal looking to pocket a figure close to €30m for the operation, which can be a loan with a right to buy or an obligation to buy.
