A return to the Premier League ‘seduces’ Barcelona striker Memphis Depay this summer, and Arsenal, Everton and Newcastle United have already ‘asked about him’.
That’s according to Super Deporte, who say the Dutchman’s future at the Camp Nou is ‘increasingly up in the air’.
They explain that he has lost his place under Xavi, and there are several clubs interested in signing him this summer if he is available.
That is likely to be the case, with Depay having fallen from being a favourite under Ronald Koeman to a place on the bench under Xavi.
There is no shortage of options for him, and a return to the Premier League is the option that ‘most seduces’ for him because of the ‘economic scope’ of the clubs and his personal aim to prove himself after his struggles at Manchester United.
Fortunately for him, he will have options should he look to make a move, with Arsenal, Newcastle, and Everton having already ‘asked about him’.
There is the chance he could go to Italy as Juventus are keen, although the finances involved make things difficult for them.
That’s a boost to the Premier League trio, and it would certainly make sense for Arsenal, who are believed to be looking for an experienced forward after letting Pierre Emerick Aubameyang go.
Newcastle, meanwhile, would love a high-profile signing like Depay and certainly have the money available to satisfy his demands.
Everton, though, makes little sense. They don’t have the money for a transfer or the kind of wages that Depay would be looking for either, so it seems difficult for them to even be in the conversation.
They’re apparently keen, though, and it seems they’ve made enquiries, alongside the Gunners and the Magpies, about a potential move in the summer.
