Greek website Sportime claim Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos could leave the Premier League club this summer, and that he’s considering his options ahead of the next window.
The Greek defender joined the Gunners from Borussia Dortmund in 2018 but in recent weeks Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has significantly reduced his playing time.
Sportime report there are currently two options in front of the 31 year old. The first option is to return to Germany, whilst the second is for him to continue his career outside Europe, such as in the Middle East or MLS.
The second option would be seen as a ‘golden retirement’ say Sportime, but the player has yet to make a decision.
Sokratis’ first Premier League appearance in two months came against West Ham last weekend at right back.
He’s previously stated he would never sit on his contract and subsequently he could leave the London club if Arteta continues to snub him.
His contract with Arsenal will expire at the end of next season.
