When we started reading O Jogo’s story linking Danilo Pereira to Premier League clubs today, we began wondering for how long have these rumours been around now.
Thankfully, the newspaper mentioned it in their story, saying that Arsenal have been following the Porto midfielder since 2011.
The Gunners continue to be linked today, this time alongside Manchester United, with both clubs keeping contact with the player’s entourage.
The situation is a bit different now. Because due to an achilles injury, 26 year old Danilo is missing the World Cup, and should take a while to return to normal training.
That’s why according to Jogo, officials from Arsenal and United have been in touch with people close to the player asking how his recovery has been.
The newspaper’s information is that things are going well for Danilo, as he should return earlier than expected, maybe in time for preseason.
Meanwhile, Arsenal and United are wondering whether they should bid for him in the transfer window or not. Danilo has a €60m release clause, and even though the transfer wouldn’t get to those figures, Porto are unlikely to accept less than €35m.
