Arsenal are considering a move for Julian Draxler this summer, with his contract at Paris Saint Germain coming to an end.
That’s according to Fussball Transfers, who say the German midfielder is on ‘very broad list’ of possible summer additions at the Emirates.
They explain that Draxler staying at PSG is ‘still uncertain’, and so his management are trying to ‘broaden the options’ for their client.
They have already approached Bayern Munich about a possible move, with Draxler having said last month that he was feeling homesick and wouldn’t mind returning to the Bundesliga.
While talks are ‘ongoing’ and Mauricio Pochettino is keen on the German, sporting director Leonardo is ‘reserved’ and only keeping the door open as wide as necessary.
Pochettino’s opinion will not determine if Draxler stays, and so the midfielder will have to look at other options for next season, which is why his agent has approached Bayern.
They are not the only buyers that could come into play, though, with Arsenal ‘also considering’ Draxler.
They have put the attacking midfielder on a ‘very broad list’ of possible summer additions, with it established that Mikel Arteta wants to add a creative midfielder to his squad this summer.
Arsenal have subsequently been linked to several over the last few months, and it appears that Draxler is the latest.
The links are not surprising, though, with the German having been linked to Arsenal for a number of years but never made the move.
Thus it’s no surprise he’s been linked again, and we wouldn’t be surprised if his agents reach out to the Emirates should talks with PSG continue to stall.
