Despite having many outlets last week confirming that Arsenal’s bid for Marquinhos was accepted by São Paulo, the Brazilian media spent a few days with no more news regarding the transfer.
That’s why it’s exciting to see journalist Jorge Nicola finally coming up with a couple of updates on the move, which is still set to happen this summer.
He starts his video with surprising news, claiming that according to his source, there was a ‘little problem’ in the talks between the clubs and the negotiation had the risk of collapsing.
Nicola, however, then contacted a São Paulo director who dismissed it. The official claimed there’s ‘absolutely nothing that can block the deal’. It’s said the final details for the contract are being sorted out and the transfer will still be completed this month.
Nicola also went chasing information regarding a potential percentage that São Paulo could have of a future move. He was told, however, that Arsenal insisted on having 100% of the player, giving the Brazilians no chance.
The Gunners are signing the winger for €3m, and the low fee is because his club risk losing him for free this summer. As reported by Sport Witness, he’s set to go out on loan, probably to a Spanish club.
