For the past few months, we’ve covered dozens of reports saying Manchester United were leading the race for the Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes. Today, we’ve also seen claims saying Manchester City have made the first official approach for the midfielder.
But as newspaper O Jogo brings an update on the player’s situation, they link two other Premier League sides to the midfielder. That’s Arsenal and Chelsea.
O Jogo’s story claims that Bruno Fernandes’ departure from Sporting is being taken as ‘certain’ at the club. The player is attracting too much attention from big sides, and the Lions are not in a condition to reject bids.
They say Fernandes is wanted by Atletico Madrid, Milan, Juventus, Arsenal and Chelsea. The interest from big clubs and the level he has reached is what makes his stay in Lisbon ‘practically impossible’.
Fernandes is protected by a €100m release clause.
And although his latest contract has a clause saying Sporting would have to accept all the bids of above €35m, he’s not pushing for it and should help the Lions to make as much money as possible.
