Over the course of 2021, Arsenal were linked a number of times with Evan Ndicka, currently contracted to Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 22-year-old has been shining in Germany with the Bundesliga side, and when the Gunners were desperately looking for a new centre-back, the move was almost a no-brainer.
They have since bought Benjamin White from Brighton for £52m+, but they could easily be in the market for another centre-back, seeing as they only have three natural players in the role in their first-team squad if you count Takehiro Tomiyasu as a right-back.
Therefore, the Ndicka option could still be on the table, whom Bild in Germany suggest will be available for a transfer come the summer.
The outlet explain the Bundesliga club ‘gambles on the transfer of the Frenchman’, and will want ‘a transfer fee of at least €20m’ since he is ‘one of the most desirable defenders in Europe’.
That’s when Arsenal are mentioned, with it pointed out he has ‘been linked several times with Tottenham and Arsenal’, often by Bild themselves, while Paris Saint-Germain ‘have also shown interest’.
We’ll have to see what comes of this, but a player the Gunners wanted is now going to be available at a relatively affordable transfer fee, and Mikel Arteta shouldn’t pass up this opportunity.
