Club Brugge manager Philippe Clement would be better aiming for Burnley or Norwich than the likes of Arsenal, should he look to move on in the near future.
That’s according to Brighton star Leandro Trossard, who worked with the Belgian boss at former club KRC Genk.
Clement has been making a name for himself in Belgium over the last few years after being appointed as Brugge manager in 2019.
Since then, he’s won 63 of his 110 games in charge, carrying on the impressive 57.3% win percentage he enjoyed at former club Genk.
It’s seen the Belgian club pick up the title in the last two years, while they currently sit a point off first place this season as well.
There’s also been several notable performances in the Champions League, with this season alone seeing them take a point off of Paris Saint Germain and beat RB Leipzig away from home as well.
Those are the kind of performances and results that could earn Clement attention, although according to one of his former players, not from the likes of Arsenal.
“Arsenal will not come knocking. Teams from the Premier League that would come are teams like Burnley or Norwich City,” he told the MID podcast, relayed by Voetbal Belgie.
“And try to do well there, because teams like that often have a hard time.
“In England, they know the Belgian teams, but hardly the names of the trainers and players. I notice that myself at Brighton.
“I think Clement would rather go to the Bundesliga as a next step, like say Van Bommel at Wolfsburg.”
