Having managed less than 90 minutes since November, Martin Ødegaard offered himself to Real Sociedad after he was left out of the squad for Real Madrid’s surprise Copa del Rey defeat against CD Alcoyano earlier this week.
Arsenal have joined the transfer chase for the attacking midfielder if various reports are to be believed.
Today’s edition of AS explains the 22-year-old trained in the gym on Thursday and has not reported any injuries or discomfort.
It’s also claimed the Gunners and La Real are the two sides ‘mainly interested’ in the Norway international. As per the report, his preference is to go to Real Sociedad, where he spent the last season on loan.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal are ‘pushing hard’ for the midfielder’s signing as they want him to replace Mesut Özil at the Emirates.
The Gunners have ‘entered the bidding’ for Ødegaard, who has ‘gladly’ received their interest.
Regarding Sociedad, Mundo insist they have not received any direct communication from the player.
El Diario Vasco also takes a look at the player’s situation and states that he has been linked with a return to the Anoeta after announcing his desire to leave the La Liga winners in the winter market.
However, he will not be joining Real Sociedad and instead, ‘will play the second half of the season on loan at Arsenal’.
It’s claimed Mikel Arteta’s side have been the one who ‘bid the strongest’ for Ødegaard’s loan transfer in January.
El Diario Vasco’s claims have also been relayed by El Confidencial and they further add Arsenal will ‘eventually be the Norwegian’s destination’.
