Former Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen returned to the Premier League when Brentford signed him on a free transfer in January and offered him a short contract until this summer.
He managed a goal and four assists in 11 appearances for the Bees, and Thomas Frank is keen to retain the 30-year-old at the club.
Tipsbladet‘s Allan Olsen suggests Brentford are ‘still seen as a possible candidate’ to sign Eriksen while the option to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer is strongly pushed forward.
Olsen claims the Denmark international has ‘under no circumstances’ slammed the door on the Bees and must listen to what Brentford have to offer him. He is of the belief the player will make a switch to a bigger club, especially given his agent, Martin Schoots, ‘has the inbox filled with offers’.
Although Newcastle United and Manchester United are mentioned, Olsen suggests the ‘arrow points so much in the direction of Tottenham’.
Eriksen had a good spell with the club and their supporters are ‘crazy about him’. The Dane knows the city and Spurs well and they have secured Champions League football for next season.
Olsen adds ‘it is not inconceivable’ that there will be a clarification on the former Ajax man’s future before he goes on a vacation.
