Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri had a word with his home country’s media ahead of the weekend derby against Manchester City.

The 21-year-old was interviewed by Uruguayan outlet Carve Deportiva, and talked about the Red Devils’ preparation to face Pep Guardiola’s side on Monday.

Pellistri showed confidence about Manchester United winning, highlighting the heavy schedule they’ve been through, and explaining how intense things have been for him in England.

“I’ve been lucky enough to experience two derbies, at Old Trafford is a plus,” Facundo Pellistri told Carve Deportiva.

“I was surprised to have days off in the week of a derby for example, but you get used to the system. Playing so often, the days off are very important.

“When we have a day off, we know that the day before was deadly, we train at very high intensity, two and a half hours on the court. The next day you can’t move. You recover your legs and rest your mind.”

Regarding Manchester United’s rivalry against Manchester City, he claims that he’s been seeing a lot more red shirts in town.

“Everywhere you go, there are United shirts. It strikes me that there aren’t so many City shirts.

“I still get just as nervous before games, it’s the adrenaline of the moment. The derby and even more so at Old Trafford, the atmosphere is going to be crazy.”

Despite the many rumours about a potential loan in the summer window, Pellistri ended up staying in Manchester United’s squad and made 12 appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side this season. He didn’t get many chances to start, though, and with 510 minutes on the pitch, he’s still to find a goal or an assist.

The Red Devils are trying to recover from a poor start in the Premier League and currently stand in 8th place, with 15 points.
