West Ham United defender Angelo Ogbonna has claimed ‘anything can happen’ amid questioning over a possible move to Roma to link up with Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho was named as Paolo Fonseca’s replacement at Roma earlier this month in a surprise appointment from the Italian side.
His arrival has, predictably, seen a number of Premier League players already linked with making the move to join him.
Ogbonna has yet to be linked, but he has strong ties with the club, having already turned down Roma twice in his career before he rocked up at West Ham.
Thus, it’s a move that would make plenty of sense, particularly given he has experience of playing in Serie A, and Mourinho will be more than aware of him given his time working in England.
Whether it actually happens remains to be seen, but the West Ham man has refused to rule it out when asked specifically.
“Anything can happen in football, but I still have two years here at West Ham where I’m doing well,” he told Fanpage.it.
“Mou is a very good coach, and I didn’t expect him to be sacked before the cup final; it was shocking. But everyone has his own path. It is right to respect today’s positions.”
