Former Manchester United defender Antonio Valencia, who is now playing for L.D.U. Quito, has urged the club to show Paul Pogba the love to help him ‘shine’ at the club.
Pogba is very much a divisive figure at Old Trafford, having failed to fully win over the United fanbase in his time at the club.
While most accept he is a world-class player, something he has shown multiple times during his time in Manchester, there are always questions about his commitment to the club.
It’s a question that has plagued him since his return from Juventus and something that has been brought into sharp focus amid all the ongoing interest from Real Madrid.
“Pogba is a star. Do you know what he needs? Love,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
“I have heard many rumours about Zidane and Real Madrid, but he never said anything.
“He is a clever person. If in the United we give this affection, Pogba will shine.”
It has been a testing year once more for England’s biggest club, although victory over Tottenham and Manchester City has made the situation better for Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
Valencia, though, says the United job is a hard one to do but believes he is seeing improvement from his former team.
“It’s difficult to manage such a unique case,” he added.
“I see United getting better and better, Rashford is going through a great time, they are a solid team behind, with confidence and a star De Gea.”
