Spanish newspaper El Periódico Mediterráneo today writes about the ‘intertwined situations’ of a couple of players in Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer business this summer.

Now that Sergio Reguilon did not travel with Spurs’ squad for the pre-season, the outlet claims there’s a special reason for it, and that’s because Antonio Conte has asked for the signing of Villarreal’s Pervis Estupiñan for his place.

The outlet had already made similar claims at the end of June, and with Tottenham’s left-back ‘not even boarding the plane’, their theory is now backed up.

It’s claimed that Reguilon’s departure from Spurs is being worked on, and Sevilla show up as ‘feasible option’, especially because he’s played there before. The London side are said to be trying to make cash with the deal, even if with a loan with an obligatory buying option.

The intention is to guarantee the money from this exit and then sign Estupiñan, with whom Villarreal ‘expect to make a good sale this summer’.

It turns out the Ecuador international would not be the only subject between Tottenham and the La Liga side this summer, since the Yellow Submarine are also interested in keeping Giovanni Lo Celso, who played for them on loan last season.

So with both transfers to be discussed with Villarreal, perhaps that’s an opportunity for a good deal for both sides.
