Several reports in Italy on Wednesday are covering Sandro Mencucci confirming, as they have it, he now has a role at Leeds United.
It’s the Fiorentina orientated press which is covering the news, given Mencucci has been linked with the club for a long time. The Tuscany side was relaunched in 2002 after financial difficulties and subsequent sporting penalties, and Mencucci was taken on as CEO.
After that he held several roles with the club, and most recently became president of Fiorentina’s women’s side, the first of it’s kind in Italy when formed in 2015. He’s also had a record of youth development with the club, with the emphasis on developing the club’s worldwide profile in that department.
Viola News report he’s been working as a consultant for Leeds United since July, and on Tuesday evening posted an image to Instagram showing a teamsheet for the match against Reading with the caption ‘ready to go’.
Firenze Viola state he’ll be operating ‘as a consultant to the president’, and that he’s ‘started working for Leeds’.
According to his LinkedIn page, Mencucci role at Leeds United is ‘International Sports Economic and Finance Consultant’.
