Currently managerless after Ronald Koeman’s rather surprising decision to ditch his club for a move to Everton, Southampton still have to plan for next season.
Having lost Victor Wanyama to Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham, the 6th best team in the Premier League will need to fill a huge gap in their squad there, but, it would appear, are also trying to bolster their options further up the pitch.
Linked with a move away from Anderlecht last season, Dennis Praet ended up staying in Belgium for an extra year, and this summer seems to be a repeat of the last, with a move to Sevilla being touted.
Currently also trying to attract Hatem Ben Arfa on a free, the Liga BBVA club are, according to TuttoMercatoWeb, the player’s first choice.
The problem for Praet at this stage is how much Anderlecht are asking for him, with the Italian website claiming the Jupiler Pro League side have already rejected a first offer of €7m (£5.6m) for their versatile playmaker.
They also report the club are hoping for other clubs, notably Southampton and Sampdoria in Serie A, to make better offers than what the Spanish club have put on the table so far.
They might have to wait a little while longer for the club to get a new manager first.
