The Ecuadorian media is showing some concern regarding Pervis Estupiñán’s physical condition.
This week, Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi confirmed that with a calf injury, the 26-year-old could miss the rest of the season.
Now as Ecuadorian newspaper Diario Expreso writes about the situation, they point out the risk of him missing the Copa America as well.
The outlet points out that Estupiñán has been struggling with injuries for the whole season, and this latest issue makes the ‘alarms go off’ at the national team.
There’s one month between the end of the Premier League and the Copa América, and there are many doubts whether the winger can recover in time. That’s why Diario Expreso even brings a list of players who could potentially replace Estupiñán in his country’s squad.
Ecuador are in Group B of the Copa América, and will be playing Mexico, Venezuela and Jamaica in the first stage.
Estupiñán, who has three goals and four assists for Brighton this season, is one of the most valuable players in the national team squad, along the likes of Moises Caicedo, Piero Hincapié and Willian Pacho.
