Although most people in the UK were following Manchester United’s incredible win against PSG in Paris last night, Watford had officials at another big Champions League match.
According to Portuguese newspaper Record, the Hornets sent scouts to the Estádio do Dragão, where Porto beat Roma 3-1 in extra time and got qualification to the quarter finals in a dramatic way.
Record doesn’t seem to know who Watford were watching, and the Hornets have only been linked to one Porto player recently. That’s Yacine Brahimi.
But it turns out that the winger, who’s becoming a free agent in the summer, didn’t shine last night like he’s been doing for most of the season. He started on the bench and couldn’t do much after coming on.
Still, there was a lot for the Hornets’ officials to see, with players such as Alex Telles, Danilo Pereira and Moussa Marega all having a great performance and helping Porto to get such a huge win.
Manchester United, Manchester City, Leicester City, Everton, Juventus, Valencia and Borussia Dortmund are the other clubs who had scouts at this match.
