Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde is unlikely to start this evening’s Champions League semi-final clash with Chelsea.
That’s according to his father, who may have dropped a major line-up hint ahead of this evening’s highly anticipated clash.
Chelsea meet Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge for the second-leg of their Champions League semi-final clash with the tie firmly in the balance after the 1-1 draw in Spain last week.
Madrid head into the game with several injury problems posing something of a selection headache for manager Zinedine Zidane to solve.
One of those is Uruguayan midfielder Valverde, who has been nursing an ankle injury for several weeks as well as a bout of Coronavirus.
Indeed, he has missed Real Madrid’s last four league games, with his last appearance coming in the 2-1 win over Barcelona on the tenth of April.
Having him back for this big game would be a major boost for the Spanish giants, but his father isn’t expecting a start.
“He wants to be in these games and in the La Liga matches,” he told El Larguero.
“Football is life for Fede. The ankle? He was recovering at home with patience and our company. I don’t think he will start against Chelsea.”
