Matteo Darmian has been given the chance to impress Jose Mourinho following Antonio Valencia’s injury.
The 26-year-old started the last three games for Manchester United, but his future could still be uncertain at Old Trafford, according to reports in the Italian media.
The Italian international is wanted by Inter Milan, who reportedly have an agreement in priciple with him, but it was claimed Jose Mourinho has blocked the move.
According to a latest report on Calciomercato, Mourinho doesn’t want to ‘free’ Darmian, but might be willing to let him leave should they find an alternative. That probably means Mourinho still doesn’t see Darmian as a long term solution, and could be considering other options.
It’s not stated, but we’d assume this will all lead to more links between Manchester United and AS Monaco’s Fabinho.
Inter are reportedly also looking for other options in the market, but they continue to be linked to Darmian. Antonio Valencia’s return date from injury is still unknown, and Darmian would be hoping to change Mourinho’s opinion on him before then.
