Agents and intermediaries representing Tottenham ‘have just arrived’ at Sporting Club de Portugal’s stadium to hold talks over a deal for Pedro Porro.
That’s according to journalist Pedro Sepúlveda, who says they will meet with Sporting chiefs Frederico Varandas and Hugo Viana to work out a long gestating deal for the defender.
Tottenham have been chasing his signature since the summer, with Antonio Conte keen to add a new right wing-back to his squad after failing to find a solution in his current options.
Porro is the man they want and numerous reports in the last few months have made it clear that a deal could happen, with Spurs trying to work out a structure.
According to Sepúlveda, Sporting still ‘fight’ for the €45m they want but Tottenham want to pay less with ‘add-ons and in several years’. He also adds that the player ‘wants to move’.
Fellow journalist Bruno Andrade backs up the news that a meeting is taking place, reporting that it is about to ‘happen in a moment’.
He, though, says that nobody from Tottenham is actually in attendance and it is just intermediaries and agents of the player who are meeting Sporting on behalf of the Premier League club, meaning no one from Spurs is in Lisbon.
He also states that Sporting are sticking to their €45m asking price, something which they also told Tottenham yesterday.
Sepúlveda concludes that the new few hours will be ‘decisive’ and Andrade says similar, with today’s conversation key to whether a deal will be done this month.
