On Monday, with a heavy heart, we covered claims from Chile of Manchester United being interested in signing Arturo Vidal this month.

The midfielder was the subject of transfer sagas which took up much of the last decade, so the claims resurfacing resulted in a lot of eye rolling.

Currently at Barcelona, Vidal is an important player for Ernesto Valverde, even if he doesn’t start every match. Despite that, the possibility of an exit has been covered repeatedly in recent months, with the Blaugrana’s finances not really what they should be.

Manchester United’s relationship with the player’s agent Fernando Felicevich was presented as good, and a reason why the club may be able to battle against Inter Milan, who are also interested.

Tuesday’s edition of Corriere della Sera covers Manchester United moving into the picture as competition for Inter. They state Felicevich has now travelled to Europe, primarily for talks with the Serie A club.

The Italian newspaper believes Barcelona will sell, although they’re said to be looking for €20m, whereas Inter only want to pay €15m.

Given Vidal is 32 years of age, that’s a hefty fee and there would likely be worry over what length of contract the midfielder is looking for.
