As covered by us this morning, reports from South America have recently emerged saying Everton have made an offer for River Plate striker Rafael Santos Borré.
It’s been reported by Fox Sports, then repeated by others, that the Toffees had submitted a bid of €15m for the Colombian star.
But that isn’t a big sign that he should be heading to the Premier League. Firstly, because the River Plate star is reportedly protected by a €30m release clause, and the Buenos Aires side are not keen on letting him go so easily.
Secondly, because Sport Witness managed to speak to Borré’s agent, Helmuth Weninng, who says he hasn’t heard of any offers from the Premier League side.
“I’m not aware of this information,” Helmuth Weninng told Sport Witness.
Asked if many clubs have been showing their interest in the player, the agent said “yes, of course”.
This is not the first time a Premier League side is linked to Borré. Back in March, Crystal Palace were also said to be following him.
At the time his agent told Sport Witness there was interest from clubs in Europe, Mexico, Brazil and the US.
