If there’s one midfielder most of Europe is excited about, it’s Dominik Szoboszlai.
The Hungarian midfielder, currently at RB Salzburg in Austria, has caught the eye with his mature performances at the age of 20, with Arsenal among the clubs taking note of his precocious ability.
This was made public by his agent recently, confirming the interest from the Gunners was ‘real’, but, for now, Szoboszlai stays put.
Much like Sadio Mané and Erling Haaland before him, the youngster is using Salzburg as a development centre before a bigger move, which, with a release clause of €25m, will come sooner rather than later.
The big question remains where to, and Arsenal are certainly among the contenders to acquire his services when the time comes, even if they’ll face strong competition from Italian sides.
Gazzetta dello Sport look at the situation on Tuesday, explaining Milan are ‘still thinking bout it’ while Napoli ‘doesn’t need feedback’ as they already ‘aimed at him’ after selling Allan to Everton without going any further.
That’s because they needed a defensive midfielder more, which led them to getting Tiemoué Bakayoko on loan.
Over on this side of the Channel, it’s said ‘his agent talks with Arsenal and who knows who’, with the competition set to ‘become like a nice queue on the right road on the eve of the summer exodus’.
Rest assured, the Gunners are hovering, but it remains to be seen if they’ll be the winners in what is likely to be a contested fight.
