The name Ozancan Kökçü might not mean a lot to you, but the Feyenoord U19 forward appears to be high on the the wishlist of both Tottenham and Everton, according to his agent.
Muzzi Ozcan spoke to Yahoo! Sport over the weekend, letting them know the 18-year-old had received ‘serious offers’ form England, Holland and Germany, with Tottenham and Everton leading the race.
In fact, Mauricio Pochettino is said to be ‘pursuing the contract the hardest’, with the youngster’s future to be decided in ‘coming weeks’.
Considering Kökçü only arrived at Feyenoord’s U19s in the summer, transferring from Groningen, a move to the Premier League would be a quick turnaround and a big step for the attacking midfielder.
In fact, it appears Ozcan is strongly pushing for a transfer, as exemplified by his chat with The Times on transfer deadline day, sharing the same information he gave Yahoo! Sport this weekend, revealing both Tottenham and Everton were after his client after ‘failing to agree a contract extension’.
Only signing a one-year deal with Feyenoord, Kökçü will be free to move in the summer, subject to clubs agreeing compensation, and it seems the Premier League is beckoning.
Kökçü has made 15 appearances for Feyenoord’s youth teams this season, scoring two goals.
With Mauricio Pochettino and Ronald Koeman both known for working successfully with young footballers, it’s no surprise to see Tottenham and Everton thrown into the hat.
